About Ithaca

A popular local slogan says, Ithaca is Gorges. That slogan is right! Ithaca is surrounded by beautiful gorges, waterfalls, and parks. Upper Buttermilk State Park, Treman, Taughannock and Ithaca Falls are all only a short drive from Longview. But Ithaca is so much more. It’s a small town with an urban flair. Ithaca is live music, local theater, festivals, parades and an assortment of restaurants that can satisfy even the most eclectic palate.

Ithaca is also a college town. Every August, approximately 30,000 students arrive to attend Cornell University or Ithaca College. Between the two schools, there are many entertaining events including athletic games, concerts, theater performances and academic lectures that add to the busyness of our residents’ lives. Shopping

Ithaca offers a variety of shopping options. Route 13 is the home to plaza-styled shopping including Wegmans, Tops, K-mart, Wal-Mart, fast food restaurants, car dealerships, and drugstores. If you opt for shopping indoors, the Shops at Ithaca Mall is a quick 10 minute drive up the east side of the lake. If you enjoy a bit more atmosphere when you shop, the Ithaca Commons, just down the hill from Longview, offers a variety of restaurants and shops in one central location.
