Under supervision of program coordinator(s), program assistant provides assistance in delivery of programming activities approximately six hours per day, two days per week (Monday & Friday), additional hours as needed to fill in or sub for others, for a population of age fifty five and over in the adult day program. Program assistant adheres to Ithacare risk management practices and NYS Department of Health regulations.

Assists in providing a comprehensive program of activities tailored to meet the needs of persons age 55 and over to promote optimal health independence and self-care. Also assists in developing specific activities, sets up and operates equipment, leads games, singing and discussions along with exercise and interacting with participants one on one. Works with volunteers for other specific projects as needed. Helps serve and clean up after meals and snacks along with keeping center in a clean and orderly manner. Must help in noting changes in participants’ physical or emotional health, communicating concerns to the program coordinator as needed. Provides minimal redirection to program participants. Also supervises arrival and departure of participants via family/public transportation. Maintains participant records as required by NYS Department of Health regulations. Must be able to work well with participants in all areas of the job.

Possess high school diploma, GED or equivalent. Previous experience in recreational activities and/or health care setting preferred. Two year degree in health or human services or equivalent course work preferred.


Full time LPNs positions available for all shifts

Must have current license and registration by New York state.  These positions will be responsible for obtaining physicians' orders for medications and treatments and assuring these are carried out.  Responsible for monitoring changes in condition of residents in an Assisted Living and Enhanced Assisted Living residence and report to physicians, staff and family.  Will assist with daily flow of paperwork, including monthly MARS changeover.  Oversee medication administration training and proctoring of medication certification testing for staff.  Must have excellent communication skills and be willing to work in a team-oriented environment. 


Resident Aides (RA), Certified Nurse Aides (CNA), and Home Health Aides (HHA)

Under the supervision of the Nursing Team Leader, the position requires the assisting of residents in activities of daily living. Must successfully complete medication assistance training and post-test to become certified to assist residents with medications.  Must complete prescribed Red Cross First Aid/AED training and blood-borne pathogen training within three months of hire. Must be professional, personable and have excellent hygiene.  The Resident Aide does not have supervisory responsibilities and adheres to Ithacare's risk management practices.
